Q. Tell our SKORCH readers your name, where your from & what you do, School/Major or Career/Field?
A. Hello Loveys…and thanks for taking the time to read a little about me. I am Domonique R, a full-figured diva currently residing in the Washington D.C. metro area. I have been experimenting in modeling and fashion for two years and loving every minute of it. I’ve had the pleasure of working with some amazing photographers, models and designers alike, along the east coast. At the moment I am in the process of obtaining a Master’s of Education Management and would like to pursue a career as a High School administrator and coach girl’s softball. I am currently employed as a Human Resources Manager at Lowe’s Home Improvement. I am also in the process of starting a lingerie line targeted towards full-figured women, so be on the look out for the launch of Empress in the winter of 2010!!
Q. You wouldn’t be caught dead without _________?
A. Only one thing? I would not be caught dead without my IPhone. Though sometimes it is a pain, I love it. It has applications for everything; from the hottest bars in any city to my daily horoscope. I can even order Chipotle right from my phone. But above all things, it has my contact information, my daily schedule, and most importantly my pictures. I would go “bananas” without it!
Q. Who are a few of your favorite + designers?
A. I wouldn’t say that there is any one designer that I like more than the others. I enjoy items of clothing that are different and make a statement. Many times, I will make my own clothes or purchase from Ashley Stewart, Abby Z and Curvaceous Boutique. I like to pair pricey pieces with “not so” pricey pieces that make heads turn!
Q. In your photo who are wearing & where did you purchase?
This picture is from a recent photo shoot with an awesome amateur photographer in Vienna, Virginia. I am wearing a one piece plum and black dress purchased from “She’s Got The Curves” online store, grape shoes from Burlington Warehouse and silver accessories from both Zale’s and Urban Planet.
Q. What does a SKORCH Doll do for fun?
A. I am a firm believer of living your life to the fullest. Living everyday as if it were your last and surrounding yourself with good, positive people. I’m a passionate, intellectually curious, quirky, creative, playful, analytical, generally optimistic, honest, and the kind of girl, that’s a neat combination of nerd and jock. I am a person that knows what she wants and is not afraid to go after it whole heartedly. I appreciate a night out the town with friends or alone with that special someone. I enjoy sports, playing and watching, volunteering with local organizations, singing, dancing, dining out, trying new things, traveling to far off lands, and great conversation. I love spending time with my family and friends. But before all things, I LOVE being a mommy to a beautiful little girl named, Zhoei Aujanay.
Q. What does SKORCH mean to you & why did you want to be a SKORCH Doll?
A. SKORCH is empowerment! It is the phenomenal woman in us all! It’s embracing and loving yourself, from head to toe. SKORCH is about accepting your imperfections, while daring to be different. I am a SKORCH Doll because I am every woman…I laugh, I cry, I hurt, I have insecurities, I getting made-up and going out, but most of all I simply love being me! I understand that I am not going to be the best at everything I attempt, but I am dedicated to becoming a better person, mother, daughter, and friend everyday.
