How to Create the Perfect First Date Outfit

So you’ve worked your beauty, wit and charm on a deserving dude and he took the bait (or vice versa). Either way, this might just be the beginning of something special and you want to start off with a bang! Picking the time and the place is the easy part, but the big question is, what are you going to wear? You want to look perfect and don’t sweat my pet, you will. With a few easy to follow guidelines you’ll find it simple to pull together a slammin’ first date outfit that’ll knock his socks off.
DRESS APPROPRIATELY: I know first hand that showing up to go fishing in your cutest high heels doesn’t play out as sexy in reality as it did in your head. Make sure that you keep in mind that what you’re wearing has to be as functional as it is foxy! No matter what you’re doing or where you’re going, there’s something cute to wear for every occasion. If you’re opting for an outdoor rendezvous like mini golf or bike riding, cute flats or sneakers are a good pick. If you’re
going to a club to dance the night away, a wild pair of wedges and a light flowy top will get you noticed and let you show off those gams. And let’s not forget that a good pair of jeans can take you anywhere! Dress up denim with a slinky top and heels for a romantic dinner, or sweeten your look with a cute ruffled blouse for the movies. Just make sure that no matter what the date involves, you’re dressed to experience it to the fullest!
BE YOURSELF: It may be fun to follow the trends now and again but let’s face it; pleather leggings just don’t work for everyone. Besides, who needs trends when you’ve got your own killer sense of style? Whether you know it or not, we’ve all got a little fashionista inside of us just dying to get out and vogue it up all over town! That’s why you’re drawn to certain styles or color palettes; you know what works for you and only you. It’s essential to be true to yourself whether you’re the hippie chick, the sex kitten, the rocker, or a little bit of each. Your date wants you to show up, not a version of you wearing the hippest clothes of the moment. He will get to know you much better if you let your personality shine through in what you’re wearing. So go ahead and rock your favorite little sundress or your lucky vintage t-shirt. Whatever you decide to wear, keep the things that make your look special in mind and you’ll look and feel phenomenal.
ACCESSORIZE: After you’ve laid the groundwork, it’s time to top it all off with a little somethin’ somethin’. The perfect sprinkling of jewelry can take you from so-so to seriously smokin’ so don’t skip the bling! There are pieces you can’t go wrong with like a pair of big hoop earrings, a few layered chain necklaces or some stacked bangles. Or you can be a little more risky and throw on a bold, sexy statement necklace. Just be careful not to go overboard—if you pile on too much of the good stuff you’ll end up looking gaudy, not gorgeous. Less is more, ladies! Don’t forget to check your ensemble in a full-length mirror to make sure that that everything works together. Oh, and while you’re there, practice your sexy little smile because that’s the accessory he’ll appreciate the most!
TWO FRIENDS ARE BETTER THAN NONE: Your head is spinning, thoughts are racing, and doubts are spreading like wildfire… are these earrings cute? Are jeans good with this top or should I go with a skirt? Belt or no belt? Aaaahhhh!!! Don’t get all worked up, help is on the way. Once you’ve narrowed down the choices but can’t make the final cut, it’s time to bring out the big guns! Pick up that phone and call your BFFs—the more, the better. Sure, they’re opinionated, pushy, and sometimes a little too honest, but that’s what you need right now. When they arrive, fill the girls in on the details of the date and tell them about the man you’re getting all gussied up for. That way, they can make an informed decision about your outfit choices. While you’re parading around your different looks, make sure you catch their facial expressions and body language. If they’re backing away from you with raised eyebrows and a look of horror, you might want to scrap that one. But if their eyes light up and they’re looking a little jealous…BINGO, you may have found the one!
CONFIDENCE: In the end, this is the most important thing. It all comes down to you. And if you’re not comfortable in what you have on, it will show. It may help to take the outfit out for a test drive first before you commit to it. Wear it to the store or the nail salon and take note of how you feel in it. If you are feeling self-conscious or you’re pulling at the clothes at all, then it might not be the right choice for you. But hey, if you’re strutting your stuff like there’s an invisible catwalk, and you can feel ladies envying you and men tracking you like prey, then you’ve hit the jackpot, baby! Confidence is key, and there’s no way to fake it. So try to remember that not only are you a total babe, you’re beautiful on the inside too. You’ve got it goin’ on girly, so get out there and show him.

There’s no way to guarantee that a first date will go smoothly, but the odds are definitely in your favor. Whether you’re a pro or a dating newbie just remember to have fun. It doesn’t matter what the end result will be, just enjoy the experience and you’ll have no regrets. And remember, if this guy doesn’t work out there’s always another guy and another outfit just around the corner.
