Sometimes being a curvy consumer who’s looking for cute clothes that don’t make you look like an AARP subscriber or an extra in a Justin Bieber video is quite like being a private investigator. Seriously! I guess that’s why I’m your Fatshion Insider, always trolling the web looking for fab finds for the fluffy. I regularly stalk international brands that I love and use my mind melding powers, willing them to ship to the U.S. All of this to say… while on one of my stalking adventures I discovered that popular UK retailer New Look finally delivers to the U.S. Yet another cool brand with extended sizes! (Ureka)
New Look calls their extended sizes “Inspire” and sizes range from US14-22. For me it’s a bit like Forever 21 but British however, they have much better dresses and sizing. My first order has arrived and I’m thrilled. It arrived in a timely fashion, pieces look and feel as expected, everything fits and I’m completely excited to make my next purchase! I haven’t seen even a faint of advertising or marketing to let us American chubettes know they are now shipping here, but now you know!
Last night Simply Be hosted a fantastic blogger meet up at Pranna in midtown to show off some of their new pieces for spring. I must say, Simply Be really does know how to throw a blogger party. Great drinks, food, staff and most importantly fab fashion. In addition to pastels and high contrast color blocking…another spring trend I’m totally in love with is head to toe black and white. Here are my top 3 picks from the spring collection and do you spot your favorite bloggers in the party pics? CLICK READ MORE >>>> Continue Reading
UK based label Anna Scholz has been a favorite of mine for years. I’m a huge fan of prints and color but the combination of Anna Scholz’s luxury and ability to create unexpected pieces for curvy women are what set the brand apart. I had a chat with the one and only Anna Scholz about her spring 2012 collection and here’s what she had to say: Click to read interview and view all the images >>
New Yorkers are known for existing in a constant state of ‘cool’ but I really can’t imagine how it will be possible to walk around without a cheesy smile plastered across one’s face because spring 2012 all about color. And, color makes you happy. From bright saturated hues to pale pastels, I’m sort of convinced that soon cities across the globe will look like one big Skittles commercial, “taste the rainbow”…and I love it!
I’m all about a pop of color so, the bright hues aren’t really anything new to me. However, I’m completely caught up in the whimsy of all of the pastels making their way into nearly every retailer. Over the last few months we’ve even seen pastels pop up in people’s hair (swoon)! Though you may have visions of your grandmother’s Easter suit when you think of dressing in pastel colors (hmm, was that just me?), there are so many really cool modern takes on how to incorporate them into your wardrobe. Imagine how fun color blocking lavenders and mint greens with beige and coral will be.
Below are a few must haves on my list! While you may not dye your hair like the fab Kelly Osbourne below, a great pair of skinny jeans, a chunky sweater, a dress, perhaps even sexy shoes in Cadbury colors are a worthy investment!

Yesterday I attended the One Stop Plus spring preview at the Roger Smith Hotel. In my former life I was a VP at the firm that handles PR for OSPand used to run that account. It’s always so nice to see the team and to check out what’s new with the brand.
Before I get to what’s new for spring from OSP, I have to say that I really love a great balcony in NYC. This one, though tiny was such a nice addition to the loft suite. So I decided to bother one of my fav ex team members Chloe for some OOTD pics. (The deets on my outfit below.)
On to spring 2012: Basically, if you don’t know, OSP touts itself as an online plus size mall. Lots of brands (including Redcats brands Jessica London, Roaman’s, Avenue, Taillissime, Ellos etc. as well as Torrid, Lafayette 148, IGIGI, Kiyonna and others.)
OSP has a gazillion items so chances are, if you’re looking for something specific, they have it. Yes, there will be TONS of pieces that you hate or that your grandmother would wear but with that, comes some pretty cool and generally inexpensive pieces that would surprise you. Here are some of the things that caught my eye at the preview. If you see something you like, it should be on the site by February 2012.
A bright sunny day begs for a flouncy floral dress, even if it’s December 3rd. Winterizing a summer dress is simple; jacket, boots…tights if it’s really cold and boom, done.
I decided to brighten my winter blues with a brightly colored floral dress and punchy pink lips.
