Quick post to show you my holiday party outfit from the other day. I was invited to one of my client’s parties, and the plan was a dress, but Torrid had sent me this top to try and I fell in love. The draping is so cool and I love the cut.
This is the outfit from my holiday video where I featured my new top and necklace from Torrid. Plus, my obsession with navy blue and gold – GAH – can NOT get enough! And, this top is on sale for only $29.99 with all sizes in stock – get it here.
Well, I’m OBSESSED (and with Torrid obviously as well since I’m head to toe in T!).
I have lived over 30 years on this planet without a decent loose fitting tall boots having 19.5″ calves. I would feel so left out of the tall boot craze and wearing my flats that would fit my feet….And, the magical year of 2011 brought me my new babies! Well, and Torrid . I admit, I do get a lot of free stuff from retailers to try and I do love, and I’m so appreciative, but that means I rarely buy anything! So when I do buy something, it’s something I can NOT live without…like these boots!
I was lucky and got them $20 off, so only $48! Crazy. And, to think I almost thought the cognac color would go with anything in my wardrobe?!!!? blasphemy, these are PERFECT!
Here are some pictures from yesterday and my lunch date. There really isn’t anything that can make you feel more confident than some great boots and a great outfit. You really do feel as good as you look sometimes!
Crap. I can’t whistle, guess I won’t find him. LOLS!! But, I’m dressed the part.
I had a fun lunch with my friend the other day and was in a hurry so I just threw together the comfy items in my closet and somehow came out feeling like a plus size equestrian! I just love these pieces, my go-to can’t live without fashion favorites. I’m absolutely obsessed with boots right now, so you’ll be seeing a lot of that.
Oh emmm geeee! I had the most fun shooting these photos with my photographer, Stacy J Photography! I’ve been working with her more now on my blog photos for a few reasons, one – I am tired of shooting myself! ahhaahaah! two – Stacy is an AMAZING woman, an inspiration and a beautiful talent, and I just love her so much I want you all to know and love her too.
Here are some fun shots we took the other day, in like 3 minutes I think? She’s such a quick shooter!!! I LOVE IT! And, the skies were closing in on us with rain, so I can’t believe we got what we did. This was a yard across the street from my house! heeehhe
So, this shoot was about some of my favorite trends for fall! And yes, everything in my closet seems to be red, black and grey!! LOLS
Houndstooth – Can NOT get enough of it, and this vintage Torrid jacket is still perfection.
Textured Tights – I’ve had these tights for quite a while, but never wore them! Blasphemy! They are so fun. And yes, big girls CAN wear textured tights!
Ankle Boots – Since I have average legs, I like the angle boots because I feel taller and feel sexier in my tights. Great for the rain as well!
Show me how you’re wearing these trends! Upload your picture to my facebook wall, I’d love to see!
Here are some more fun photos from my shoot with Stacy J Photography. I was especially excited about my second hand made 5 minute scarf
This a staple outfit of mine, you can’t go wrong with a tuxedo blazer, nice denim, tank and gorgeous scarf!
This blazer and denim are from Torrid. I made the scarf out of $5 a yard clearance chiffon at my local fabric store! Do you make DIY fashion? I’d love to hear your ideas!
You’re going to see a lot of color blocking in the magazines and on the street this fall! Why is it so popular? Part of me thinks it’s because we can mis match the odds and ends in our closet and call it fabulous, but the other part of me is totally buying on to this trend. Especially with orange and pink mixed, I never would have gone for that before.
I’m sure I’m a sucker for fashion marketing and have caved in willingly, so to help you along on the dark side of color blocking, I’m here to offer tips on how to get the style trend in plus size! I went virtual shopping at all my favorite places and found some great pieces to snap up.
First, what is color blocking, you might ask?
Color blocking isn’t the usual pairing of a neutral and a color, instead it’s the pairing of two/three/four major colors. I find the key to making sure you don’t look like a hot mess is to pair colors in the same tone. I like to stick with jewel toned colors or brights.
Here are my top plus size color blocking style picks:
Dress - “Marilyn” Two-Tone Short Convertible Dress – Red/Navy
This is my number one favorite color block dress for the season. MonifC dresses are pure luxury. Plus this dress ties in 22 different ways to give you a different look every time you wear it.
Price – $195 Sizes 8-24
Cardigan - Color Block Open Cardigan
This cardigan pairs my two favorite colors for the season, orange and pink!
Price – $34.50 Sizes 26-30 (limited stock online, check your local store)
