We all know that feeling. You walk into a store, you see the perfect hand bag, necklace maybe even some earrings but what’s missing? Oh just the whole outfit part. Being plus-size means it’s significantly harder to find the right outfit and sometimes it’s actually impossible. CurvesBeReal was built with this in mind. Founders Ken Robinson and Robert Huitron noticed a space in the fashion world that needed to be filled, filled with women that look real. With over 25 years working in New York’s Fashion Industry, the men had worked their fair share of photoshoots for plus-size fashion lines. But the founders of CurvesBeReal were shocked to discover that the Fashion Industry decrees the designation of Plus as size 8US and above. They realized a change needed to be made. That everyone deserves to feel represented and seen. Which is why they decided to do their portraits in lingerie, to celebrate the curvy woman. To show that she can be just as beautiful and alluring as her “straight size” peers. CurvesBeReal believes that women of all sizes should be celebrated for their accomplishments and triumphs, and not for what size dress they wear. The CurvesBeReal Campaign is a ONGOING CAMPAIGN.  Their first effort launched on February 8th 2017, at the start of New York Fashion Week. Their second launch is planned for April 24th, 2017.  Future launch dates TBD the remainder of the year and beyond.

What’s your favorite part of your body?
My favorite would have to be my legs! I love to walk and enjoy exercises that make them stronger. They also seem to get a lot of attention. My legs landed me a campaign with Hanes Just My Size legwear and hosiery(in stores now). No matter how my body may fluctuate, my legs seem to remain strong and are proportioned just right to my curvy silhouette!

What’s your best modeling tip?
Best tip, check the mirror, embrace your inner supermodel!  Crank up some music and work it like it’s a camera! This is the best way to get comfortable in your skin, see your expressions, work on different moods and discover your best angles!

What’s your favorite part of your body?
My favorite part about my body is my waist, it’s very feminine and sexy!!

What’s your best modeling tip?
A modeling tip I would give to anyone would be don’t let other people’s opinion of you make you change how you feel about yourself, you’re beautiful.

What’s your favorite part of your body?
My favorite part of my body is my torso. I’ve got a really cute tummy that curves out just a little and I have some soft ab outlining that I’m constantly working on defining. My torso changes a lot day to day and it makes me happy to see how my body reacts to my exercise and eating habits. Progress is satisfying, and rolls don’t bother me anymore.

What’s your best modeling tip?
My best modeling tip is to practice!!! You’ll need a mirror and ideally someone to take snapshots on their phone. Learn how to find your light. If there’s a dark shadow under your eye because of your angle, then you aren’t gonna look your best. Find angles that work for your face and your body. I like to look at photos of ecommerce for basic posing references.

What’s your favorite part of your body?
My favorite part of my body would be my legs! I love how thick my thighs are how they look great they look when I strut. How sexy they look glistening in the summer. How snug they are in jeans.

What’s your best modeling tip?
Best modeling tip is to always be on your A game. You have your own image and you are your competition.

What’s your favorite part of your body?
I absolutely love my curves ! I feel like it brings shape and sassiness.

What’s your best modeling tip?
Be super confident in yourself! Always have fun and just clear your mind, that always helps me to achieve that perfect shot!

What’s your favorite part of your body?
It can be easy to get consumed with physical attributes, but for me, my favorite part of my body is my brain! When my mind is happy and healthy I can look at any part of my body and see the beauty beyond the flaws.

What’s your best modeling tip?
I know at this point it sounds like the most cliche advice you can give, but I can’t stress this enough: BE YOURSELF! I wasted so much time trying to be “commercial” and to fit in a box that just wasn’t made for me. Once I embraced my differences from other models instead of trying to be like them, people took notice! I started going on more castings and booking a lot more jobs. Moral of the story: Don’t sell yourself short. There are people out there looking for exactly what you already are.

What’s your favorite part of your body?
My favorite part of my body is my waist because, after years of stressing over my size and feeling self-conscious, I can finally say that I accept it and I love it.

What’s your best modeling tip?
My best modeling tip is to just forget you’re in front of a camera. Don’t let yourself get in your head, and if you feel self-conscious, don’t! You’re beautiful!

What’s your favorite part of your body?
My favorite body part has to be my hips and butt. It fills my clothes nicely!

What’s your best modeling tip?
My best modeling tip is to be driven ready and willing. Be open to watching listening and learning from the more “seasoned” and get with an agent/agency that backs you and believes In you, don’t go after the name.

3379_1_retouched_final_BW_websizeMaria Diaz

What’s your favorite part of your body?
Hands down…hips! I love my body completely but it has taken me a while to get to this point which makes me love it more. I love the way my waist is smaller but then my hips are accentuated, they tell a much deeper story. The way my body is shaped is because of my culture and I couldn’t be more proud to be African American and Dominican decent. And of course how I look in a body-con dress!

What’s your best modeling tip?
Do everything with purpose and be memorable. That is not only with modeling but in life in general. When you walk into a casting or any room…command the room’s attention with your vibrant energy.

What’s your favorite part of your body?
My favorite part of the body are my eyes, I believe that they are the window of the soul so it’s basically my favorite part in everybody not only

What’s your best modeling tip?
About the tips, I would say to take care of yourself, to always be the best ‘you’ you can be, inside and out!

3737_1_retouched_final_BW_websizeLauren Karaman

What’s your favorite part of your body?

My lips and smile, baby! I love life, and I love being caught enjoying it with a big, candid smile. But also: My legs! When I was younger, I used to be embarrassed by my height and thick thighs, but now I can’t get enough of how long and strong my legs are!

What’s your best modeling tip?
Be brave and be YOU.

3814_1_retouched_final_BW_websizeSummer Nicole

What’s your favorite part of your body?
I wouldn’t say I have a favorite or least favorite part of my body. But what I truly love and can appreciate, are eyes. How they can be so expressive and tell a story in a photo alone.

What’s your best modeling tip?
Through my years of struggling with castings and getting to know the industry, I learned that they’re not lying when they say to just be yourself and be confident. When you walk into a casting and you’re bright and confident people will start to be attracted to it.

4194_1_retouched_final_BW_websizeLaura Lee

What’s your favorite part of your body?
I don’t have a favorite part, I love every inch of it, even my sassy little cellulite.

What’s your best modeling tip?
Believe in yourself! If this is your dream and you want it more than anything, DON’T EVER GIVE UP. Getting work in this industry is very hard, clients have so many faces and bodies to choose from. It can turn into an emotional roller coaster but you have to keep focused. Build your brand, take pride in how far you have come and NEVER stop believing in yourself and pushing forward.

4404_1_retouched_final_BW_websizeReese Thompson

What’s your favorite part of your body?
My favorite part of my body would be the shape of it. I especially love my wide hips and tall stature.

What’s your best modeling tip?
My modeling tip would be to just MOVE. Don’t really make it about forceful posing… keep it natural but still cool and edgy and you’ll end up getting a much better shot. Easy tip to remember: imagine the camera as a mirror; know your angles!

4644_1_retouched_finalBW_websizeMalik Stevenson

What’s your favorite part of your body?
My favorite part of my body are my long legs & thick thighs

What’s your best modeling tip?
The best modeling tip I could give anyone would be to own it! Own yourself, your dreams, & don’t change for anyone!

4861_1_retouched_final_BW_websize Ashley Sweeney

What’s your favorite part of your body?
**CUE MISS NEW BOOTY SONG** My booty! (and my legs!!!)

What’s your best modeling tip?
CONFIDENCE (and knowing your angles)! Roll up to a casting or a job blasting some “Maneater” by Nelly Furtado….your confidence will be speaking for you [without you saying a word] and you won’t even need to know your angles because your confidence will organically find them.

4975_1_retouched_final_BW_websizeConnie Andrade

What’s your favorite part of your body?
My favorite part of my body are my legs. They are the pillars that give my
body the strength to perform day in and day out.

What’s your best modeling tip?
Stay true to yourself, never comparing yourself to anyone else in the industry. By doing so, you carve out your own lane and distinguish yourself from the next model. Remember, there is only one YOU! Embrace yourself, stay focused and disciplined by keeping a healthy balanced diet & exercise, and be patient!
