Hi SKORCH readers!
My name is Taylor Shanle, a Los Angeles based blogger and Social Media Manager, and I just wanted to start with a little introductory blog post! I’m so excited to be a part of the SKORCH Collective and can’t wait to start brainstorming special content just for you. Let’s get to know each other!
Growing up in a small town in Northern California, I was always searching for an outlet for my creativity. With little to no access to plus size clothing brands, it was difficult to dress my body the way I wanted. I wanted to dress like the girls in the magazine but feared the ridicule I might get. With the support of my family and friends, I powered through and expressed myself through fashion. I began to write, style and photograph my friends, create countless inspiration boards and even started a fashion club at my high school. Throughout the years, I’ve known that I was born to create and spend my life doing something that I am passionate about. As a junior in high school, I applied and was accepted to the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, Los Angeles. Through FIDM, my eyes started to open up to the possibilities that life had to offer.
Within the few short years I’ve been in LA, I’ve accomplished things I never thought possible. I started my blog Blonde Ambiition to document the events and opportunities I’ve taken, and the styles I find myself loving. To this day, I’m still in awe that I’ve been in a Buzzfeed video (Plus Size Girls Can’t), modeled for an activewear line and even attended the annual Torrid Pool Party. Being introduced to the plus community in LA has been absolutely life changing for me. To meet and connect with such powerful women is a true gift in itself. I am constantly gathering inspiration from the people, places and experiences around me. Being a plus size woman is such a huge part of who I am and what I stand for. I’m now showing off my body instead of hiding it in baggy clothes. I’m always looking to collaborate with other body positive creatives to showcase our talents together. I’m not letting life pass me by anymore. I’m proud to be plus size and to be a part of such a positive and encouraging community!
Follow along as I continue to break down barriers and explore this crazy life!
